This morning, I headed to Tongariyama, also known as Mt. Togari, in Tateyama Town.
Because of its beautiful cone-like shape, the mountain has long been surrounded by mysterious stories. Some say it may be an ancient pyramid, while others speak of it as a landmark or landing place for UFOs. For that reason, it is known among UFO enthusiasts as one of Toyama’s little mystery spots.
The mountain is only about 560 meters high. Although it may sound small, it has some steep slopes and offers just the right amount of challenge for a beginner-friendly hike.
When I climbed it for the first time, it felt quite hard and I had to stop several times. Now, I can reach the summit without taking a break. I can really feel that my stamina and strength are gradually improving.
At the top, with the fresh breeze, the green trees, and the sound of birds around me, I felt as if nature was saying, “You did well today.”
